DAY 1:

We at Toubkal Experience organizes 9 Day Toubkal & Mgoun Trek. After breakfast in Marrakech we head towards Asni, in the High Atlas. We reach the hamlet of Imlil (1740m) where we meet up with the trek team and join our trail. The trail is rugged underfoot as we gradually ascend for approximately 1.5 hours to the holy shrine of Sidi Chamharouch (at 2310m). Next a gradual climb of approximately 4 hours has us reaching the area of the Neltner base camp “Toubkal Base Camp” (3207m) and the location for our first exciting night under canvas.

DAY 2:

Today after breakfast we leave camp and start a steep ascent on a zig-zag route which snakes it’s way though scree and boulders. We pass two guardian peaks and the occasional patch of old snow. We continue upwards the views becoming more impressive and after approximately 3 hours, and we arrive on the summit. We are surrounded by the peaks of the High Atlas, the hills of the Anti-Atlas and Jebel Sirwa, whilst away to the south lies the Sahara. After taking in the views we descend back to the hut in approximately 2 hours. Overnight in the base camp . Enjoy our 9 Day Toubkal & Mgoun Trek.

DAY 3:

Today in the morning to climb the peak of Ouankrim mountain and enjoy the view from the top then we come down to base camp for lunch and get back all the way to Imlil where ill be spending a night in a local guesthouse or riad.

DAY 4:

After breakfast in the riad we short walk in Imlil. We pick up transport for our transfer across to the Central High Atlas. The journey across to the Bougmez “Happy Valley” takes approximately 5 hours and passes a rich variety of contrasting scenery. We’ll pass through the olive farms of the Marrakech and the foothills of the Middle Atlas before the road curves. After lunch we drive to the village of Arous. Here we meet our mueteers and their mules who load up our bags. Enjoy then  2 hours  hiketo the Ikkis Valley. After passing the village of Ait Said we set up camp.

DAY 5:

Today we continue 9 Day Toubkal & Mgoun Trek and you will enjoy views of the Mgoun Mountain range as we leave the green valley behind and make our way into the heart of the mountains.  After breakfast we leave camp and we ascent up to the Aghouri Pass (3400m). We’ll enjoy a well-deserved break and take in the views. This whole area is known for the nomadic shepherds that venture up to the high pastures to graze their flocks during the summer months. Next we descend down to the Tarkeddit Plateau (2900m), the location for our camp tonight. Tonight we sleep at the foot of Mount Amsound and in the shadow of the incredibly beautiful Mount Mgoun.

DAY 6:

Enjoy the exciting summit attempt on Mgoun. As the third highest peak in the Atlas range, this beautiful mountain offers amazing experience. The initial part of our trek sees us leave camp and make our approach to the magnificent long ridge of Mgoun. Our route takes us onto the ridge which if we are very lucky we’ll be able to spot many fossils along the trail. The summit of this majestic giant is 4068 m and weather permitting from the top we will have a 360 degree view over the longest mountain range. After taking in the views we descend steeply on trails of scree until reaching the Oulilimt Valley (2600m). Our camp on the valley floor will look extremely welcoming.

DAY 7:

Today we climb Tizi n'Ait Imi (2905m). Nomads use the path we travel to transfer their animals to high mountain pastures. The Ait Atta are nomads from Morocco's Jebel Sahro. We can see Bougmez from the pass. Kind people and a simple lifestyle define Bougmez. From the pass, we zigzag to Ait Immi's seven mills in the Bougmez Valley. Agouti gite with shower.

DAY 8:

Today we transfer from Agouti to Marrakech and expect to arrive early in the afternoon. Marrakech is a terrific spot to tour the souks and haggle for gifts. Djemaa el Fna is a fantastic spot to people-watch and find meals.

DAY 9:

Transfer back to Marrakech Airport and departure. End of 9 Day Toubkal & Mgoun Trek.
